The story behind the story... During 2022, while temporarily in Phoenix for access to Cronkite resources, I had suspected that the helicopter fleets of the Phoenix Police Department, the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Department and the Arizona Department of Public Safety were all in violation of the optimal published FAA flight path, with the helicopters routinely generating 75 to 80 decibels at ground level while flying excessively low when routinely taking shortcuts over a long established residential neighborhood during aircraft egress and ingress to the regional airport where their respective fleets were based.

This Arizona's Family Investigates live streaming YouTube report was produced by Arizona’s Family (KTVK 3TV, KPHO-TV CBS 5, azfamily.com) in Phoenix, initiated and based upon my issue spotting and providing source material to the television station's Investigative Journalist.

The story behind the story, continued... My research and escalation of this matter resulted in Arizona's Family Investigates pursuing the issue I had spotted, and producing an investigative report where I am interviewed, airing on the evening news in Phoenix. The productive outcome of this investigative reporting is that the law enforcement agencies, especially the Phoenix Police Department, became largely compliant with the established FAA flight path in the intervening months to the relief of a noise weary community and elementary school.

Addendum: In March 2025, this investigation that had begun in 2022 while I was temporarily in Phoenix to have direct access to Cronkite resources, and resumed while I was again in Phoenix for a time during 2025, concerns the Phoenix Police Department Air Support Unit’s fleet of helicopters disruptive flight path and low altitude departures and arrivals from a regional airport.
